Our story began in Austin in the Fall of 2020. Amidst the Covid shut down, asynchronous classes, and social distancing , by chance, we met and fell in love. We still can’t believe our luck in finding each other while we were both students at the UT (Hook’em!), just weeks before we both turned 20 (fun fact, our birthdays are exactly 8 days apart!). Our first date was at a shaved ice dessert shop, and although Tarini had assured her roommates that she’d be home within the hour, we ended up chatting for more than four hours. We talked about life, politics, food, language, and so much more. As the time just flew by, we both realized that the way we viewed the world meshed just right. We chatted on Snapchat daily (to this day we both still love our little snaps), face-timed, and hung out. After a few weeks, Vivek very bravely asked Tarini if she thought this could be a long term thing. The conversations about communication, trust, and teamwork that we had then have laid the foundation for our relationship now. 

The more time we spent talking and being together, the more our connection grew, till it was unmistakeable that we were in love. We bonded over the joys of an estate sale, Tarini’s cooking (and Vivek’s enjoyment in eating Tarini’s cooking), British cinema, and all of the little shared moments that bind two people together. We realized that the two of us fit together just like puzzle pieces - we work beautifully as a team because we complement each other.

In 2023, Vivek graduated from UT and started medical school at UTMB in Galveston. Tarini remained in Austin, working at her dream job. The three and a half hour drive between these two cities was short enough for regular weekend visits, but long enough for us to miss each other when the work week started. On March 23rd, 2024, after over three and a half years together, Vivek got down on one knee and proposed to Tarini at Mueller Park in Austin. Now, over 6 years into our relationship, we are ready to start the next chapter in our love story together. We are beyond excited for where our adventure takes us next! (ie: where Vivek gets into residency!)
